The short version
Slack is the most mature team chat there is, and its app directory is the largest in this category. If your working day is typing to colleagues and wiring tools together, Slack is very hard to beat.
HOLOH Workspaces starts from the meeting instead. The call is a room you walk into rather than a huddle bolted onto a channel, and the calendar sits in the same window. If your day has more talking than typing in it, that is the difference you will feel.
Where the call lives
In Slack, a call is a huddle you start inside a conversation. On the free plan a huddle is a one-to-one meeting, so the first time a third person needs to join, you are on a paid plan or in another tool.
In HOLOH the room is the product. You look around, walk over and take an open seat, the whiteboard is inside the room, and you can drop to a flat 2D grid whenever the room is not what you want. Every channel has its own room, so the next call starts where the last one did.

Plans and limits
Slack publishes its free plan limits plainly, so this table quotes them. The HOLOH column says what is true during early access rather than guessing at plans that do not exist yet.

Slack prices two ways, and the difference between them is real money, so both are listed. HOLOH has no price yet: it is free during early access and nothing is charged.

When Slack is the better fit
Three cases where we would tell you to stay.
- Your workflow runs through integrations. Slack's app directory is the largest here, and nothing we have matches it.
- You work with clients and partners in shared channels. Being where the other side already is beats any feature comparison.
- Your day is typing, not talking. If meetings are rare, the thing we are best at is the thing you need least.
What we would say for HOLOH: if the day is full of calls and the calls feel like a grid of boxes in a tool that is really a chat app, that is the problem we are built for.
